TEXT: 1 John 2:1-5

SUB: Some Things You Need To Know About Jesus

There is a lot of things that a person can know in the world in which we live.

Knowledge is ever increasing beyond one's greatest expectations.

But while this knowledge may be important the knowledge about Jesus is of the greatest importance.

This knowledge can mean the difference in your eternal destiny.


 (1 John 3:16a KJV)  "Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us:"

 A. PERCEIVE - Become aware of or understand.

  (Romans 5:8 KJV)  "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

 B. God LOVED us when we were UNLOVABLE!

 C. Christ died for OUR SINS when we were:

  1. Hopeless
  2. Helpless
  3. Lost in Sin

   (2 Corinthians 5:21 KJV)  "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."

 D. His love looks to our SIN AND NEEDS!


 (Psalms 91:15 KJV)  "He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him."

 A. He is ever ready to listen to faintest cry of CONFESSION AND REPENTANCE.

  1. Thief on the Cross
  2. The woman at the well.
  3. Saul of Tarsus

 B. He LISTENS with great COMPASSION and UNDERSTANDING to those who are burden down by SIN.

 C. He is LISTENING today, right now for that burden heart to cry out for FORGIVENESS and VICTORY in Christ.

  (Matthew 11:28 KJV)  "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."


 (Mark 9:27 KJV)  "But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose."

 A. His hand is extended to . . ."whosoever will, let him come."

 B. He will lift the SUFFERING, SORROWFUL and the SINFUL out of their despair.

 C. He will lift the drunker, the dope addict, the backslidden, the unsaved or anyone else that will by faith reach up and take His hand TODAY!

 D. See His hand stretched out to:

  1. Simon Peter
  2. Andrew
  3. Matthew
  4. Mary Madaglean
  5. Woman at the Well.

 E. He will lift you today, just take His hand by Faith.

  (Hebrews 11:6 KJV) "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."


 (John 8:36 KJV) "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."

 A. Through His Death, Burial and Resurrection a repenting, believing sinner is set FREE from the penalty of Sin and Death.

 B. There is liberation from the power of Sin!

  (Romans 6:6 KJV) "Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin."

 C. The SAINT no longer has to serve sin!

 D. Life can and will change because of the liberating power of Jesus and His Love.

 E. Jesus changes the Want To of the believer.

 F. A saint doesn't have to be in bondage to sinful habits.

  (Romans 6:14 KJV)  "For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace."

 G. You don't have to keep falling victim to the flesh and the devil.

 H. Jesus has given you the power to life victoriously for HIM.

  (2 Peter 1:3 KJV)  "According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:"


 (John 14:19 KJV)  "Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also."

 A. Because He lives, as a believer you shall live also.

 B. One day when all is over and done with, the believer will still be living with Jesus.

 C. In the City of God we shall live and reign.


Now that you know these things about Jesus, why not come  and receive Him.

Jesus is the answer for whatever you have need of!

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, there's just something about that name.
